Introducing the Makers of Mare De Vetro

Mare De Vetro is created locally in Australia by mother daughter team, Raylene and Angela Boulter and has been inspired by a lifetime of artistic pursuit by the duo.

Growing up in Far North Queensland with Italian and English heritage, Angela was fascinated by her mothers jewellery collection from an early age, which lead to a passion for collecting vintage jewellery in her teen years.

She was always creating something and artistic expression was strongly encouraged by her mother, from painting and writing to designing and sewing - it was in her blood right from the start.

Raylene was a natural artist who grew up travelling throughout Australia and Paupa New Guinea. She spent her youth being inspired with tales of glitz and glamour by her Great Grandmother who spent time in London working as a showgirl, and dreamed of a career in design.

While this wasn’t to be at the time, she invested her spare time soaking in all she could learn about jewellery making, and later shared this passion with Angela.

With a love for performance and creativity making a strong appearance in their family history, it is no wonder these two have come to be the makers behind this gorgeous brand.

Mare De Vetro came to life in 2019 from their shared passion of handcrafted artisan jewellery and launched to the public in 2020. With a strong desire to stay true to their values, Mare De Vetro combines traditional craftsmanship with only the finest materials and a design ethos that prioritises purity, integrity and originality.

From Pearl Farmers in Fiji and the Phillipines to Artisian Glass Blowers in Italy and Goldsmiths in the United States, the duo pride themselves on the relationships they have built with their suppliers and make a point of getting to know them, their culture and how their craft supports the local communities. Being part of a community of artisans working together to create beautiful, ethically sourced, natural products is very close to their hearts.

With each design comes a new adventure in the creative process, for instance, all of the glass used in Mare De Vetro pieces are completely custom and made exclusively for the brand, never to be see anywhere else. This relationship is a special one, the two families are tied by marriage and have developed a close bond over their shared passion for creating unique pieces that honour the art of glass making.

Each colour is specially crafted from swatches created first in water colour, which is then adapted to glass during the melting process, each piece is then shaped and finished perfectly to their designs.

Creating unique styles that capture the hearts of their loyal following is the driver behind every new collection, they love nothing more than to share their love of jewellery with their community.

As a young brand, they are certainly making their mark in the European market, with 2022 bringing features in GQ Mens, Vanity Fair and Paris Fashion Week. This is only the beginning for Mare De Vetro.
